TREASURE HUNTING IN THE HEATH 

It can be hard to keep the little ones entertained over the half term! There are a number of charity shops in Kings Heath that not only help to support our community but also offer an array of great picks for your little ones! So why not take a stroll through the heath and see what treasures you can find with the kids this half term! 

  • The Children’s Air Ambulance Charity Shop

At 123 High St, you’ll find the Children’s Air Ambulance Charity Shop! Here you’ll find a selection of books, toys, clothing and homewares! They’re open 9 am – 5 pm, Monday to Friday and 10 am – 4 pm Sundays. The Children’s Air Ambulance shop in Kings Heath helps to support the amazing work of the charity. They offer lifesaving transfers for critically ill babies and children.

  • British Heart Foundation

At 110 High St, you’ll find British Heart Foundation! They’re open 9:30 am – 5 pm, Monday to Friday and 10 am – 4 pm Sundays. They sell an array of clothing, shoes, accessories, books, music, toys and household items. British Heart Foundation fund around £100 million of research each year into all heart and circulatory diseases and the things that cause them.

  • Oxfam Books and Music

At 110a High St, you’ll find the Oxfam Books and Music shop! They’re open 9:30 am – 5 pm, Monday to Friday and 11 am – 2 pm Sundays. The Oxfam shop in Kings Heath helps to support the work that Oxfam undertake in 67 countries around the world. Oxfam work with communities and partners towards a world without poverty.

  • Sue Ryder

At 143 High St, you’ll find Sue Ryder! They’re open 9:30 am – 5 pm, 7 days a week. The Sue Ryder shop in Kings Heath helps to support the crucial work that Sue Ryder undertakes. They support people through the most difficult times of their lives, whether that’s a terminal illness, the loss of a loved one or a neurological condition.

  • Acorns Children’s Hospice 

At 118 High St, you’ll find the Acorns Children’s Hospice! They’re open 9 am – 5 pm, Monday to Friday and 10 am – 4 pm Sundays. From pre-loved clothes, toys and bric-a-brac to books and DVDs, there’s a wealth of items you’ll find here! The Acorns Children’s Hospice shop in Kings Heath helps to support the amazing work they do in providing care for babies, children and young people who have life-limiting or threatening conditions. They have a network of specialist palliative nursing care and support for local families.

  • Age UK 

At 157 High St, you’ll find Age UK! They’re open 9 am – 5 pm, Monday to Friday and 10 am – 4 pm Sundays. The Age UK shop in Kings Heath helps to support the life-enhancing work the charity does locally and nationally. They work with partners to deliver a range of services to support the lives of those later in life.

  • Barnardo’s

At 16 Alcester Rd S, you’ll find Barnardo’s! They’re open 9 am – 5 pm, Monday to Friday and 10 am – 4 pm Sundays. The Barnardo’s shop in Kings Heath helps to support the amazing work the charity does in supporting, protecting and nurturing the UK’s most vulnerable children.

  • PDSA Charity Shop

At 26 Alcester Rd S, you’ll find the PDSA Charity Shop! They’re open 9 am – 5 pm, Monday to Friday. The PDSA shop in Kings Heath helps to support the life-saving work the charity does in treating and supporting animals. Their 48 Pet Hospitals care for sick and injured pets – saving lives, and keeping pets happy and healthy.

  • British Red Cross

At 2B Addison Rd, you’ll find the British Red Cross Charity Shop! They’re open 9 am – 5 pm, Monday to Friday. The British Red Cross shop in Kings Heath helps to support the life-saving, crucial work the charity does in supporting people when crisis strikes. For 150 years, the British Red Cross has been working to bring assistance without discrimination to the wounded on the battlefield and support those whose lives are affected by war and crisis.

 

To keep the kid’s entertained this half term, why not pop into CooShoo, Loco Lounge or Kitchen Garden Cafe, and collect a colouring template to celebrate the Queens Heath Pride and Queens Jubilee! Your little ones can create their crown to wear on the day! These will be available from 1st June, throughout the half term or you can download and print here!
