Harvest Skincare on Poplar Road have recently launched their special Father’s Day collection! They’ve got soap, incense, beard oil and vouchers for their treatment room so you can pamper your dad with some beautifully fragrant gifts or a relaxing massage. Their products are all handmade locally in small batches and from natural ingredients, so when you buy from them, you’re doing the planet a favour as well.

Now run as a cooperative Community Benefit Society, York Supplies is still the place to go for DIY and gardening supplies, advice and repairs. Whether it’s a project that’s just never been started or a trusty tool that needs repairing, York Supplies have the knowhow and the willingness to do it – all for a reasonable price!

BikePro
If your dad is one to hit the B roads on two wheels of a weekend, you’ll find no end of perfect gifts at BikePro. Whether it’s a bright new pair of gloves or a saddlebag to keep your snacks in, if your dad loves his bike, then BikePro are sure to have something for him.
Gorilla Coffee Café/Workshop
Speaking of bikes, Gorilla Coffee Café and Workshop offer both bike repair and servicing at their workshop, as well as coffee, brunch and beers all day round. You could take your dad our for brunch while the team fix up the bike and kill two birds with one stone.

If your dad is most comfortable with a book and coffee in hand, you need look no further than The Heath Bookshop. This independent bookseller has only been open for a few years but the shop has already made a huge splash in the area. The small shop nonetheless has plenty to choose from, from new releases, to the classics, to books you’ll never even have heard of before. And Catherine and Claire are always happy to make recommendations if you’re spoilt for choice.
Season Tailors
Nabil at Season Tailors is an expert in tailoring and alterations, having studied in Damascus. Whether it’s a pair of jeans that need adjusting or a brand new and tailor-fit suit jacket, Season Tailors have got it. They also sell accessories such as cufflinks, ties and pocket squares which would make the perfect gift for a dad this Father’s Day.

Hop & Scotch, Houblon, The Juke, Schooners
Is it just us or is there something about dads and IPAs? If your dad is a sucker for a craft beer, why not take him out to one of these small independent bars and try something new you won’t find at the local? Each one offers a unique selection and atmosphere: The Juke has a warm atmosphere and classic tunes going all night long, and serves various beers and ciders, as well as their speciality ‘Sham Pellegrino’ (yum!). Schooners work with in the eponymous 2/3pint measure and have a dart board for the aspiring Luke Littler out there. Houblon specialise in imported beers from Belgium, Germany and beyond, with suitably European décor, if you want the feeling of a continental city break without the hassle of flying. Last but certainly not least, Hop & Scotch are an award-winning pub, having been named Pub of the Year for 2023 by the Birmingham branch of CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale.
