The last bank holiday of the year is just around the corner and Kings Heath has so much to offer – here’s a round-up of what to expect if you’re in the area this weekend!

For the Music Lovers

Of course, the Hare & Hounds have lots going on over the weekend! This place is a staple for many when it comes to weekend plans

Hare and Hounds are entertaining all weekend long! Sunday is the main focus this weekend, with two events running, depending on if you want a daytime event or if you want to take full advantage of that carefree Sunday night.

First off is the ‘Bank Holiday Matinee’ running from 3.30 pm – 9 pm. Expect alt-indie, indie-pop along with Punk and Post-Rock – get your tickets here

If you’re more of a night owl, turn up for the ‘Common People’ event at 10 pm  – DJs will be playing 80’s, 90’s, 00’s and lots of oasis and indie music – drinks will be flowing, along with great music – what more so you need on a Bank Holiday! Tickets are just £5, purchase them here

One of Birminghams’ best brit-pop bands and our very own Ocean Colour Scene are playing The New Irish Centre on Friday 26th! The “rip-roaring rock ‘n’ folk odyssey” are headlining the outdoor venue, their only Birmingham show of 2022! Of course, being from Moseley they hold a special place in our hearts. Their second album, ‘Moseley Shoals,’ inspired by Moseley where the band formed back in 1989, makes us proud to be Brummie!

Doors open from 5.30 pm – buy your tickets here.

For the Foodies

If you’re a true foodie, or you’re just looking for somewhere to enjoy some good food then we know a few places.

Soul Chicken is great for the whole family, simple, soulful chicken but super tasty. You can customise your sauce flavour to your taste/spiciness – bringing flavours of the Caribbean to Kings Heath! A messy one, but worth it.

Poli will be sure to take care of your pizza cravings! Another great place for the whole family. Serving traditional Italian, woodfired sourdough pizza – your little slice of Italy right here in the Heath. (Keep in mind Poli is closed on Bank Holiday Monday, but open the rest of the weekend)

If you’re looking for somewhere a little more sophisticated, somewhere to wine and dine, then Boomers serve amazing food, wine and cocktails (they also have a champagne bar upstairs if you plan on having a late one)

For the ones wanting a quiet one

We know not everyone wants to party, eat and drink the weekend away. That’s what makes Kings Heath so special, there is something for everyone to enjoy!

The All Saints Classic Car Show is returning! After 2 years of lockdown, the Classic Car show is making a return – a great day out for anyone who loves all things vintage and classic. There will also be music from The Frenzies from 12 pm as well as refreshments – all are welcome.

Maybe you want to spend your Bank Holiday weekend enjoying some great brunch options – Gorilla Coffee Cafe has just that. Traditionally a place for the biking community, it is a great place for all the family, serving some of the best brunch in Brum.

Are you an artsy person? How about heading to Art Rooms on the High Street? Here you can admire the latest art exhibitions from some of the best local artists, and maybe pick up a print or two for yourself – to top it off you’re supporting a local business and artist just by attending (especially if you share a picture and tag them on socials!)

We can’t wait to welcome people to Kings Heath for the Bank Holiday weekend, as well as being thankful for our local community and their constant support.
