We are very happy to announce that Kings Heath BID duo have received a Good Citizen Award!

Two employees of Kings Heath Business Improvement District (‘Kings Heath BID’) were honoured on 28th February with an award at a West Midlands Police Awards ceremony.

Town Centre Manager, Martin Mullany, and Street Warden, Simon Carr, both received a Good Citizen Award. The citation in presenting the award, Inspector Neil Kirkpatrick said:

“Martin Mullaney and Simon Carr, you have developed a strong working relationship with the Kings Heath Neighbourhood [Police] Team; proactively dealing with many challenging issues such as retail crime and homelessness on a daily basis.

You have both worked diligently trying to find suitable accommodation for vulnerable homeless people and contacting many support agencies to address their drug and alcohol issues. The innovative pathway referral work is supported by practical steps such as arranging shower facilities through Kings Heath Baptist Church.

This is coupled with a hard stance on business crime, which includes the regular circulation of images of offenders caught shoplifting and this has led to valuable intelligence being submitted.

You have both worked tirelessly and with real passion to make a difference to the lives of people living and working in Kings Heath.”

The award was presented by Chief Superintendent Kenny Bell.

We can’t think of a more deserving duo for this award and it’s great to see them getting the recognition they deserve. Well done, fellas!
