Happy Half Term! 

With the Easter holidays upon us and the long Bank Holiday weekend coming up, there’s plenty happening in the Heath! 

See our guide to all the Easter events and the places we recommend visiting whether you’re celebrating the two week holiday or the four day break!

FAMILY FRIENDLY EVENTS

On Bank Holiday Monday, The Station is hosting an Easter Family Day. Join the pub from 12pm on Monday 10th March, for a range of Easter activities including face painting, crafting and an egg hunt. 

There’s no need to book, just head down to the pub to enjoy some Easter Holiday fun!

Continuing the market theme, the Artisan Market returns to York Road on Easter Sunday! The market will feature traders from the Heath and beyond offering all sorts of goodies, from clothes to candles to baked goods and, perfect for Easter, chocolate!

Head to York Road at 10am to join in the holiday fun!

CircusMash is making sure there is plenty of fun to be had over the Easter Holiday with CampMash, a week of activities running from Monday 10th April – Friday 14th April!

Join them for Discovery Mornings, suitable for ages 5 – 8, an opportunity to explore activities like juggling and diabolo, develop their balance and coordination and try their hand at aerial and trapeze skills, taught by CircusMash’s expert team!

The camp will also be hosting Aerial Afternoons, suitable for ages 8 – 17, where they will be able to have fun learning aerial skills on silks, trapeze and an aerial hoop. Information on how to book each class can be found on the CircusMash website.

On Saturday 8th April, join the Friends Of Kings Heath Park for an Easter Eggstravaganza! Arranged with the Ranger service the day will include children’s crafts and games, Easter decorated hat competition and an Easter themed quiz trail around the park.

Friends of Kings Heath advise everyone to bring a picnic to enjoy in the park that is looking beautiful in the spring weather! The event will be running from 12pm – 2:30pm. Tickets are free and can be booked here.

 

EVENTS FROM OUR INDEPENDENTS

One for the grown ups, Grace + James are hosting an afternoon of Wine and Cheese Tasting on Saturday 8th April. Join the wine bar for their first ever tasting that explores five wine and cheese pairings from different regions around the world. Not a bad way to spend your Saturday afternoon!

On Thursday 6th April, The Heath Bookshop is hosting its very first poetry event. They’ll be joined by Naush Sabah, the editor of the Poetry Birmingham Literary Journal, for an evening of poetry discussion and reading.

EASTER HOLIDAY FUN

There are plenty of Kings Heath businesses that can help you out with a day of family fun! Here are the stops we recommend making this Half Term.

Boundary Sports
The sports shop has plenty of equipment to kit you out for a day of energy, activity and exercise. The shop specialises in Cricket and Hockey, offering all the equipment you need to play an over or two, from bats to balls and most importantly protective gear! 

Head into the shop on Station Road to get all the gear you need and follow them on Instagram and Facebook!

How Brave is the Wren
The Children’s Bookshop is the perfect place to spend a relaxing day this Half Term. The selection of books ranges from picture books to early YA reading! Take your picks away or stay in the shop for a quiet, relaxed atmosphere. How Brave is the Wren also hosts Story Time, a chance for the little ones to hear their favourites read out loud. 

Drop into the shop on Thursday at 4pm or Fridays at 10:15am to join in the fun!

Bike Pro Racing
A family holiday isn’t complete without a family bike trip. Stop into Bike Pro Racing to pick up the perfect cycle then head to Kings Heath Park for the perfect family day out!

Kings Heath is a one-stop shop for perfect eateries, whether you want to satisfy your sweet tooth, settle in for a laidback brunch or book in for a sit-down dinner. The Heath has it all!

Sweet Treats

Milkcake Man
One of the prettiest places in the Heath to enjoy coffee, breakfast or a dessert treat. Order french toast, pancakes or a signature MilkCake. Stop by for food that tastes as good as it looks! 

Little Dessert Shop
Little Dessert Shop has all the Easter chocolate you need. Stop by and enjoy a limited edition creme egg milkshake, caramel cookie dough or brownie! There is also the rest of their indulgent menu to take advantage of, from waffles to pancakes to crepes, stop by and indulge a little this Easter!

Ever So Sweet
Finishing our trio of dessert stops is Ever So Sweet. With a menu filled with sweet treats from cookie dough, to waffles to mini pancakes and a bright, friendly atmosphere to match, Ever So Sweet is the perfect Easter trip out!

Blow Water
The Hong Kong influenced eatery is a cosy spot on Heathfield Road that is perfect for a lunch time break. Book a table and enjoy the dishes that are quickly becoming the favourite of everyone in The Heath!

Early Bird Bakery
Always a busy brunch spot and for good reason, Early Bird Bakery, is always stocked full of perfect baked goods and serving up an incredible brunch menu.

Gorilla Coffee Cafe
Gorilla is a perfect brunch spot on Drayton Road. The cycle friendly café’s menu offers the finest coffee, a delicious brunch, tasty light bites and indulgent desserts – there’s something for everyone. 

Loco Lounge
Loco Lounge is a must for a menu that will satisfy everyone at the table. Whether you’re ordering a classic brunch favourite like smashed avocado or a late lunch item like Burgers or if you want to share a selection of small plates, Loco Lounge has it all.

Plant N Plate
The plant-based restaurant has a menu that showcases how wide ranging and tasty vegan food is! Serving up coffee and baked goods as well as lunch and brunch items, Plant N Plate is a must-visit, no matter your diet.

RA Coffee
RA Coffee House is a wonderful laidback spot on High Street that serves a range of great eats. Come for the coffee, baked goods and friendly service, stay for the street food boxes that sell out almost as fast as they’re made!

Tiffin Guys
The Tiffin Guys menu is where you’re sure to find your new street food favourite. From loaded fries, to street food, to all-day brunch, the desi streatery is the perfect place for a half-term trip out. And with a dedicated kids menu for the little ones there really is something for everyone!

DINNER

Poli
Everybody loves pizza and Poli proves why! Their wood fired pizzas are fresh, delicious and cover each and every diet, so no one is left picking through a salad! Sit inside or grab a table outside if the weather is good and enjoy a perfect Easter evening out!
