Have you noticed something new about the bus stops along Kings Heath High Street? We’re delighted to reveal that the Kings Heath BID have joined forces with the West Midlands Bus service to brighten up Kings Heath with a series of delightful Kings Heath inspired poetry posters. The beautifully illustrated posters can be found in bus stops all around Kings Heath. The poems were submitted by local residents as part of our Kings Heath Poetry Competition and chosen by expert judges from the much loved Cannon Poets.

The collection includes written pieces from budding poets as young as 8 years old! Poems include “The Park”, a tribute to the wonderful green spaces around Kings Heath and “Autumn Afternoon in All Saints”. The project aims to give some joy to residents of Kings Heath and bring art out into the streets of B14.

The next edition of the Kings Heath Poetry Competition will be launching in January, and shortlisted winners could even find their work displayed in Kings Heath bus stops too!

The competition is open to all; the only rules being that all entries must be between 10 to 20 lines in length and have a link to Kings Heath.

There’s plenty of time to put pen to paper before the competition launches in January! So feel free to take a look at the bus stop poems for inspiration.

Can you find all 5 of them though dotted around the High Street bus stops?
