With the sun slowly creeping out from behind the clouds and the last of the winter nights looking like they’re behind us June is officially here! As per usual there’s plenty happening in and around the Heath this month, to help you decide how to spend your free time, we’ve put together a guide to some of the best events in the area.

Sip wine with Grace + James, York Road.

If there’s one place you have to visit this month it’s Kings Heath’s newest resident Grace + James! The authentic wine bar and shop serve a variety of independently produced wines alongside a wide array of delicious cheeses from all across the UK to create a unique dining experience, full of class and authenticity. For any of you wine or cheese lovers Grace + James will be right up your street. Visit them on York Road to see what wonderful wines they’ve got in store in their opening month.

Put the pedal down at Gorilla Coffee Cafe, Drayton Road.

to celebrate National Bike Week, Gorilla Coffee will be hosting a family friendly bike ride on the 9th and 16th June. Starting from GCC on Drayton Road the ride will be relaxed and social, aimed at families with children. The ride will end back outside Gorilla Coffee with some cake waiting inside for you to reward yourself with. Find out all the in’s and out’s of the event here.

Get your cheese fix at Black Lab, High Street.

Here’s one for all you cheese lovers… Every Wednesday at Black Lab you can get a free cheese board when buying a bottle of wine as part of their Cheese Wednesdays. The cool and quirky bar makes for the perfect setting to spend a relaxing evening with some friends drinking, eating and enjoying each others company.

 

Dance, drink and eat at The Station, High Street.

On Friday 15th head down to The Station from 7 pm onwards to help them celebrate the launch of their brand new outdoor cocktail bar. The evening will feature some incredible live music, a delicious BBQ and of course some fruity cocktails, oh and they’re 2-for-1!

 

Tales at Kitchen Garden Cafe, York Road.

Storytelling Cafe returns to Kitchen Garden on Wednesday 20th June with some tremendous tales from storytelling master Graham Langley. Graham will join the Cafe team and Storytellers’ Studio to create all kinds of stories of mystery, magic and myth as part of their Midsummer Madness show. Tapas at Loco Lounge, High Street.

The family-friendly Loco Lounge is the perfect place to pop out with the little ones after a busy day of work and school to enjoy some filling food and a much-needed glass of wine (just for you) in the sun. Every Tuesday at Loco Lounge is Tapas Tuesdays which means for you can enjoy three terrific tapas dishes and a refreshing glass of house wine all for just £9.95!

Get those fingers green at Kings Heath Park

Friends of Kings Heath Park are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help them out with any odd jobs that need doing around the park and on Sunday 17th of this month, they’re looking for willing volunteers to help maintain the fruit garden. So if you’ve got some spare time next Sunday why not stick on your old trainers, put on your gloves and lend a helping hand?
