We decided to put together a list of some of the best ways to spend May and make the most of the recent improvement in weather to make your life a little bit easier. Bank Holiday in Kings Heath!
Party at Hare & Hounds
As per usual there’s plenty happening at Hare & Hounds this month, with live music every night it’s always a party and May at H&H plays host to a wide array of incredible artists and with two bank holidays this month Hare & Hounds are going to party hard. The first bank holiday event on Sunday 6th, ‘SKA and MOD Fest,’ will feature live performances from The Underclass, Marina Coombs, The Curv3 The Ska445s. Curious Hifi at Black Lab
Curious HiFi Soundsystems return to Black Lab on Saturday 5th May for another evening of good music and good vibes this Bank Holiday. Paired alongside the delectable Cocktails served at Black Lab the evening is one you don’t want to miss out on. Check out the event here to find out more!

Wellbeing Open Day with Gorilla Coffee Cafe and Barefoot Birmingham
On Sunday 27th May Barefoot Yoga are linking up with Gorilla Coffee Café to hold a free cycling and yoga day in and around the café/courtyard, next to the yoga studio on Drayton Road. GCC will be celebrating the final day of the Giro D'Italia, the famous Italian Grand Tour Cycle race. Along with showing the event live on the big screen, there will also be led rides, music, food, craft beer...and of course YOGA. You can find out all about the event here.
Kinks Heath Fest
On Sunday 20th May celebrate 52 years since Kinks debut at The Ritz Ballroom. From 3 pm to 6 pm local musicians will play their favourite Kinks songs at Fletchers Bar on York Road. From 7 pm the doors will open across the road at the Hare & Hounds for an evening concert by The Kast Off Kinks.
The Kast Off Kinks are line-up are formed from ex-Kinks members including; Mick Avory on drums and vocals who also played at the 1966 Ritz gig, John Dalton on bass guitar and vocals, Ian Gibbons on keyboards and Dave Clarke on lead guitar and vocals. The band was created to keep the music of Kinks alive and to give something back to loyal Kinks fans. Tickets for the afternoon session at

Charity Quiz Night at Loco Lounge
Charity quiz night at Loco Lounge - Do you fancy yourself as a bit of a brainiac? Why pop down to Loco Lounge on the 6th May for the return of their quiz night? Not only will the winner of the quiz receive a £30 gift voucher to spend in any of the Lounges across the UK but all proceeds of the event will be donated to the GAIN (Guillain-Barré and Associated Inflammatory Neuropathies) charity, so all the fun’s in the name of a great cause!

Twisted Tongues return to The Station
Twisted Tongues returns to The Station for the second time this May! On the 17th May head down to the station for an evening of laughs and amazement. The Open Mic event invites anyone to come and show their skills with words, whether you’re a comedian, poet or storyteller. Twisted Tongues is all about celebrating the local talent around Birmingham and with drinks all night long and a wonderful venue on 17th May there’s only one place to be, and that’s at The Station. Car Boot Sale at All Saints
On Monday 7th May head down to All Saints Centre for a day of family fun events. The event will feature a car boot sale on the square, indoor Bric a Brac, a book sale, a history tour of All Saints Church, a live concert from All Saints Singers and an outdoor Bowls mat for you and your little ones to test your skills at. The event will start with the car boot sale which kicks off at 9 am.

Make your own Jewelry at Enki
Ever wanted to learn how to make your own jewellery? Located in Kings Court, Enki provides just that with their evening classes. Alongside learning how to craft your very own jewellery, enjoy a few glasses of wine, tasty gourmet sandwiches and an evening of chatting with some good company. Every first Saturday of the month plays host to the ever-popular Kings Heath Farmers Market. The market features a variety of delectable food products from a range of different traders. Be sure to head down early on Saturday 5th of this month to get the first choice of all the amazing food products available and check out all the wonderful craft products available.
Treat yourself to some Terrific Tapas at Byzantium
Embrace the warm weather with some classic Mediterranean dishes at Byzantium. The delicious Tapas available at Byzantium complement the warm weather perfectly and when combined with one of their fruity Cocktails you’ll feel like you’re sitting in a beachside restaurant in the Med itself.
