March 15, 2019

You might already be familiar with the #MarchMeetTheMaker hashtag, a viral thread over on Instagram that was started by Joanne Hawker to help designers and artisans pull back the curtain and show the face behind their brand. Joanne started the hashtag because she was frustrated with not being able to find like-minded creative businesses, so decided to invite them to take part in a hashtag trend! We thought this would be a great opportunity to introduce our own local creative makers! First up this month is Katie Fisher from Honest Skincare.

Katie, pictured below, is the maker behind Honest Skincare located over on Poplar Road.

Katie started Honest Skincare in 2015, after developing eczema and finding it frustrating that she couldn’t find any natural products that were as effective as the products containing chemicals over the counter. After much research, Katie developed her own products at home, ensuring they were natural and suitable for sensitive skin. Katie mixed and infused ingredients using skin-loving waxes and vitamins blended with the finest organic oils, and soon came up with a number of perfect solutions that soothed and helped her own skin problems.

Armed with a passion for discovering natural beauty solutions, Katie decided to look into making her own products available to the public. Katie was sure that if she struggled to find products like these herself, then there must be a market for others in the same position. The brand focuses on being natural, handmade and effective, and has gone from strength to strength with over 24.7K followers on Instagram.

Following on from the success of the brand, Katie has launched treatment rooms, workshops and retreats. Her product range now includes skincare, incense, bath salts and even candles. Honest Skincare now offer spa treatments from their Kings Heath shop, specialising in facials, massage and holistic treatments. They have even enjoyed a brief pop-up in Great Western Arcade in Birmingham City Centre. They now ship all over the world and stock boutique hotels, restaurants and other like-minded stores with our products in Japan, France, Europe, London and America.

Katie also enlightened us with the meaning of Honest, that it is a acronym that stands for Holistic, Organic, Natural, Ethical, Simple and True. Genius!

We’re delighted to have Honest Skincare right on our doorsteps, and look forward to seeing where Katie takes the brand next!

Look out for our next instalment of #MarchMeettheMaker…
