We’re delighted to announce that the much loved Kings Heath Street Festival will be returning to York Road this Sunday (September 8th 2019) for an end-of-summer bonanza like no other!

The vibrant area of York Road will be transformed with a live music stage, with all bands, DJs and artists curated by the award-winning Kings Heath music venue Hare and Hounds. There will also be street food, fun for all the family and circus workshops courtesy of Kings Heath’s very own Circus School, CircusMASH UK. The all-day event will take place from midday and run until 8PM and is free entry.

The line-up for the Hare and Hounds music stage includes some of Birmingham’s best up-and-coming bands, including headliners The Atlantic Players! Keeping the crowds going throughout set performances will be Mazzy Snape on the decks, known for her soul and funk sets all around Birmingham. Other acts include vibrant samba band Oya Batucada, festival favourite Call Me Unique, high-energy groovy jazz band Trampette, soul, funk and ska band The Heels and folk-rock band High Horses!

CircusMASH, who operate a circus school in Kings Heath, will be providing free workshops from 1PM – 6PM in aerial acrobatics, balance skills and hand-eye coordination. Attendees are welcome to come along, join in, learn and perform alongside professional artists throughout the day.

There will be a host of street food available on the day, including traditional Indian tapas-style street food from Full of Chaat, homecooked Caribbean food from Esme’s Eats, freshly prepared artisan waffles from Bournville Waffle, delicious Dim Sum courtesy of Dim Sum Su, traditional Greek BBQ from Street Souvlaki and food from the island of Mauritius courtesy of Lil Maurice Cuisine.

The Kings Heath Street Festival will showcase the eclectic variety that Kings Heath is so well known for. Many of the local shops, bars, cafes and eateries in Kings Heath will be opening their doors to join in the celebrations and will be providing activities and special street festival treats for all to enjoy.

Kings Heath Town Centre Manager and event organiser Martin Mullaney says:

“We’re delighted to be bringing back the Kings Heath Street Festival to York Road again this year. The music line-up is one of the best yet and we can’t wait for all of the community to come together to celebrate Kings Heath! We’ll also be launching our new charity ‘Kings Heath Helping The Homeless’ at the event, so if you’d like more information about how you can get involved please talk to a steward on the day. The Kings Heath Street Festival is one of the biggest events in the local area and we’re thrilled to be back again this year!”

The Kings Heath Street Festival is supported by the National Lottery’s Community Fund grant.

York Road will be closed throughout September 8th from 6 AM until 10 PM and will be transformed with for a free fun day, starting from 12 PM until 8 PM
