Kings Heath Half Term

This half-term shouldn’t just be about trying to keep the kids occupied! After a stop-start few years, our guide is here to help create some new memories and explore the variety of fun, family entertainment Kings Heath has to offer.

An open calendar can be intimidating, so if you need a little help trying to fill the empty hours, check out these indoor and outdoor venues that will guarantee the family a week’s worth of fun this half term. 

Hickory Dickory’s – Equipped with trampolines, slides, sports pitches and a multi-level play frame for Under-12’s and a softer, safer, separate play area for Under-5’s, Hickory Dickory’s is perfect for an afternoon of fun for your little ones. And the Clock Cafe is open for parents, providing coffee, quick bites and a direct view of the play area.

Popolo Ceramico – Popolo Ceramico are setting up shop in Cartlands Independent Tea Room on Friday 25th for a late morning Paint-Your-Own Pottery session. Running from 10:30 – 12:00, it’s a chance for the family to have some creative fun, painting mugs, plates, vases and more! Popolo will also be taking what you make away to be glazed, fired and ready to collect a few weeks later – just in time for Mother’s Day.

Circus Mash – Half Term is the perfect time to try something new and promising circus fun, games and performances from 10am – 1pm all week long, Circus Mash’s Half Term Youth Workshop offers just that! 

Kings Heath Library – There’s an Alien Takeover at the Kings Heath Library! Throughout half term, kids are encouraged to drop in, create and craft their very own alien. Why not make a day of it and stay for a pop-up storytime too?

Cocks Moors Woods Leisure Centre – Join the Cocks Moors Superstars Holiday Club for Gymnastics, Tennis, Badminton, Cricket & More to keep your little ones active this half term. At £19.50 for five full days of fun, it’s a great opportunity for any 5 – 12 year olds to get moving, build confidence and make some new friends!

Kings Heath Park – Kings Heath Park is perfect for an afternoon out of the house. Visit the playground that works best for you and afterward treat yourself to afternoon tea courtesy of Cartlands Independent Tea Room located within the heart of the park.

Highbury Park – On the border of Moseley and Kings Heath, Highbury Park has all the space you need for a kickabout! And if you think the whole family can handle it, Alltrails offers a seven mile walk that takes you through Highbury and Kings Heath park, finishing at Cartlands Tea Room.

Food & Drink

Whether you’re catching up with loved ones or treating the kids to a day out this half term, Kings Heath has you covered with eateries that cater for the whole family. 

Early Bird Bakery – Open 9am – 2pm, Early Bird Bakery is the spot for an early afternoon playdate. Get together with family and friends and enjoy an ever changing, inclusive brunch menu with a children’s menu available in-store as well.

Little Dessert Shop – Give into temptation this week and visit Little Dessert Shop! The menu is stacked with sweet treats for the whole family. For the kids, how about the Unicorn Charm Sundae or Candy Crush Cookie Dough and for parents, the knowingly named I Shouldn’t But I Will Crepe. Indulge, enjoy, it’s half term!

Kitchen Garden Cafe – Offering home cooked food and homemade cakes and pastries alongside Fairtrade tea and coffee, Kitchen Garden Cafe is your choice venue this half term for a day out with friends or family. With comfy sofas right beside a toy-stocked play area, let the kids have fun while you catch up.

Gorilla Coffee – Plot a local bike ride with the family and end with a stop at Gorilla Coffee – Kings Heath’s premier cycle cafe. It’s an apt place to finish and a great choice for lunch, with an inclusive menu, coffee and craft ales, and plenty of space to lock up your bikes!

Loco Lounge – Loco Lounge understands that you can’t properly relax until the little ones are happy and Little Loungers makes that all but a certainty. Books, toys, crayons and colouring pads are all available, alongside a kid’s menu, to make sure they’re enjoying themselves as much as you are! 

Professor Willy’s Sweet Shop – Professor Willy’s Sweet Shop has over 250 jars of sweets to choose from alongside the traditional sweet treats we know and love, that really is something for everyone! Introduce the kids to some old school favourites, let them pick a mix of their own or you even buy yourself a Wonka Bar, exclusive to the shop.
